This campaign provides people with the chance to understand and acknowledge the difference between a podcast telling the facts versus sharing their opinion. A little background information: 87% of Americans expect podcasts to be mostly accurate. This creates the issue that
many people believe podcasts provide truthful information, compared to 1-in-10 who expect podcasts to be mostly inaccurate (Sheaer, Liedke, Matsa, Lipka, & Jurkowitz, 2023). The Reality Check Campaign is a promotional extension of Spotify, as a disclaimer to users listening to
podcasts, that they should consider fact-checking.
